Social Media Release
Disney's New Attraction
One of the courses I took as a public relations student was titled "multimedia writing for public relations." This
course taught us in depth how to write certain public relations releases. Everyone in our class was assigned
to write a news release on a subject of the professor's choosing. Doing this instead of allowing the students
to choose their topic better prepared us for our future careers as we won't always get to choose the topics on which
we are reporting. Our professor chose to make the topic of our news release the then-upcoming opening of Pandora
World in Walt Disney World. Pandora World takes guests on a virtual ride through the land of Pandora, experiencing the valleys, rivers, and
lands associated with the movie.
Because a news release has most of the same elements as a social media release but is a bit different, I took information my original news release and changed the format to mirror a social media release. I added facts and quotes by the brains behind the Disney World attraction. I also added pictures of the attraction to give viewers a sneak peak of what it will look like. Finally, you will see a behind-the-scenes video of the attraction, set to open May 27, 2017.
